Courtyard Garden

What: Traditional Cottage Garden

Where: Shenstone

When:

This was a traditional cottage-style property with a small courtyard garden.

Client brief - to add interest, retain intimacy, and break up walls.

The area was paved in sandstone and a sitting area constructed.  Planting was introduced to disguise the walls, and shade-loving plants such as hostas, ferns and heucheras were used in particularly shady areas.

During excavation a paving slab was lifted to expose a well.  We decided to make a feature of it by covering with a circular piece of glass, and placing a light within the well.

A potential problem was thus turned into an amazing feature.
