The enclosed courtyard of one of the most prestigious wedding venues in the Midlands

Client brief - To create an interesting photogenic space suitable for guests to feel comfortable and relaxed in, which would complement the main function buildings. To create a water feature as a focal point.

Even though the weather was very snowy during construction, and working conditions were very difficult, work progressed well and the weather did not detract from the final result.

G-Scapes aimed to retain the intimate nature of the courtyard while adding height and structure:

  • 4 x 12'-14' Quercus Ilex (evergreen oak) were planted
  • Raised oak planters were constructed which doubled up as guest seating areas.
  • Box hedging planted to soften the paving.

Details were added within the paving to break up the large expanse.

The main focal point was the bespoke copper tree effect water feature which looks stunning when lit up at night.  Lighting was a very important part of the scheme as many functions take place at night.

The main consideration for the project was to add interest and structure, but to retain ample space for guests to mingle.
