Year Round Colour and Interest

What: A Garden For All Year Round Interest

Where: Yoxall

When: September 2009

Rear Garden - Phase 1

The clients have a large 1 acre garden and are very keen gardeners. It is a new build with a flat, open, turfed area at the rear.

Client brief - to transform a boring garden by introducing all year round interest.

This was achieved by creating colourful and structurally interesting sweeping borders. At the client's request, G-Scapes also constructed and planted a woodland area and Pinetum, giving a lovely shaded area. The photos of the garden taken 1 year on show the increased size and maturity of the stunning flowering herbaceous perennials, all of which were grown on our own Fullbrook Nursery… impressive and much appreciated garden transformation.

Front Garden

The front presented a further challenge as it was a typical block paved drive with a small border and grassed area in front of the window.

Client brief - to break up and add interest to a large frontage.

G-Scapes built an imposing sandstone rockery to give height and structure and to present the opportunity for lots of colourful planting for all year colour and interest. Incorporated within the scheme was a stainless steel water feature to add another dimension - the soothing sound of falling water.

Rear Garden Phase 2

Most of the gravel paths and lawns were in place.

Client brief - to replicate the stunning laburnum arch which the client had seen at Bodnant Gardens in North Wales. What a challenge!!

G-Scapes constructed the lovely curved pergola walkway, which is now planted up with laburnum. As the plants mature and cover the arch, the effect will be superb and hopefully give as much pleasure as its Bodnant prototype!!
